Information Literacy Standards

Standard 1: Access information efficiently and effectively to inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge. 

Standard 2: Evaluate information critically and competently to draw conclusions, make informed decisions, acquire new knowledge, and apply knowledge to new situations.

Objectives

1. Define an information need.
 
2. Gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
 
3. Analyze information appropriate to a second grade topic or subject area.
 
4.  Explore and use print and online resources with support.
 

Common Core Standards

The standards for K–5 reading in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects are integrated into the K–5 Reading standards.

RI.2.3. Describe the connection between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text.

RI.2.5. Know and use various text features (e.g., captions, bold print, subheadings, glossaries, indexes, electronic menus, icons) to locate key facts or information in a text efficiently.
