    Part of the iLife suite for Macs. Use Magic GarageBand to personalize a song in minutes, loops to create your own song, or record an instrument/voice.


  • WolframTones
    Each composition is produced by running a program found by searching the computational universe, taking the pattern the program produces, and converting it to a musical score.

    For older students there is a math/science lesson here, for younger students just keep clicking the "create new" and "show variations" buttons until you get music you like.


  • Roc
    Aviary's music creator, use to simulate dozens of musical instruments including piano, guitars and drums. Create music loops and patterns.


  • Soundation
    Online music studio with recording, effects, virtual instruments and over 600 free loops and sounds. Need to sign up for a free limited account, more features with paid account.


  • Noteflight
    Compose, read, print and hear notation and guitar tablature right in your web browser. Sign up for free limited account, classroom accounts available.


  • Incredibox
    Drag and drop musical elements onto figure to animate the figure, try different combinations, mute and unmute for variation, record and share.


  • Looplabs
    Select from one of nine sound loop libraries, record your voice or imports sounds. Finished recordings can be downloaded.

    Free, open source, cross-platform software for recording and editing sounds. Allows you to record live audio; edit sound files; cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together; or
    change the speed or pitch of a recording.
